Hi

Has anyone used the camp site near La Rochelle called Camping Les Sables?

Hi,

There are 2 municipals in La Rochelle. One is called 'le port neuf' or 'le pont neuf'....sorry can't remember exactly. We stayed there. Is about a 30 -40 minute walk into La Rochelle.

The other municipal is 'le soleil'....only open June- September but a lot closer to the centre but was full when we got there. Both sites are very popular.

Only thing that was a negative was you had to pay a deposit if you wanted to book in advance but it was non refundable...think it was about 10-15 euros so of course it really adds up if you only want a 1 night stay.

I should also say that it is possible to get a taxi into town from here if you wanted. The walk in is by the main road. It is well lit and a nice stroll.

I stayed at this site a couple of times.Brill site.Pool complex the best iv seen,Pitches big ,v close to great shopping and at 15 mins from La Rochelle.

I would recommend this site very highly,also there is a cycle lane to the place mentioned above to get a water taxi into the center of the city,place is calles Port Des MINIMES.The site is at 5 mins walk from the beach.
