We will be going to Paris at Easter, and I'm considering buying a satellite kit before I go.
Do you know what size of dish I will be able to get away with. Most kits use a 38cm dish, but will this be too small for Paris?
It it means that I will have to get a 60cm dish then I probably won't bother.
Does anyone know of a place to buy said kit from?
TIA
Steve.

If by 'kit' you mean the Comaq system that comes in a nice plastic moulded case, then these are available from Maplins, B&Q and occassionally Aldi and Lidl.
The Comaq kits are around £60-£80. though it's alot cheaper just to buy a Digibox and dish off ebay !
A zone 1, standard 43cm, minidish is all that you need for France.

Yes, I meant that everything you need is in one box.
Most of the "kits" are either 38cm or 39cm dishes, will this be too small?

38cm definatley to small IMHO, unless you only want to pick up BBC World TV from the HotBird satellite at 13Deg East, 60cm ofset dish, or Sky Mini-Dish Zone 2 if poss which is 58cm, you may get away with a Zone 1 which is 43cm, only problem with the Sky Dish is that they are mesh, and easaliy get deformed in transit, even a small ding, will reduce the eficiency, a good 60cm Solid Aluminium dish is your best answer, but not for the far South West of France, 80cm is better for those areas.

What you are looking at is for mid UK, and isn't even big enough for the North of Scotland. You should go for nothing smaller than a 60cm dish for France and this should do you as far as the South of France. Your small dish will only be OK for Normandy really. Unless you want your picture dropping out when it clouds over and rains.......that's if you you want to recieve your signal from Astra of course.
