Having had several holidays in the South of France, most of them were great, some just average we thought that we'd have a go at camping in Northern Spain. I fancy a ferry from Plymouth / Potsmouth to either Bilbao or Santander and a nice quiet site in spain - I'm looking for other peoples experiences / advice but in particular a nice quiet site in Northern Spain. I don't need a bar, pool, entertainment. A loo, shower and pleasant quiet surroundings is all I ask.

Any info or advice would be gratefully accepted.

The Atlantic coast of Spain is great - the further West you go the quieter and more mountainous it gets. There are nothing like as many campsites as in France and we sometimes had problems finding a site but, again, it gets easier as you get away from Santander westward.

One site we stayed at was bare minimum but had vacancies -  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=8451 - over the road from a beach with the old town (great restaurants and bars) behind it.  Good centre for touring but the next time we go we'll go further west, near the Picos de Europa.
