Has anyone got any maps etc of any of the French canals they no longer want/need? Or can anyone recommend anything relevant to read on this area?
We're thinking of cycling along the canal routes in June/July, having had a great time cycling beside the Loire river the year before last, but we're short of info. We'll be staying at Aires or France Passion sites wherever possible.
Any experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated

Didn't see your earlier post and I haven't been on the forums for quite a while....as for 'plugging' FP, not sure what you mean. I posted a serious question about the canals for a reason, which is that I want to be able to plan a holiday based around cycling the canal system!!! I mentioned aires and FP as I didn't really want answers about sites, more about routes and suitability.
Any relevant info still most welcome.........

Mistaken identity, then -sorry. The entire thread got pulled so I can't check. The only think I could think of that was wrong was that the OP was obliquely promoting this FP site which I had not heard of before.
Regarding the canals - have a look at the vnf site. (Voies Navigables de France). Lot of info here.

Did you read the threads on here from last year? Very useful info from Oxter on some of the French canals, I bought the canal map he recommended on line and used it quite a bit last year, really enjoyed it.
Links to the relevant posts in case you didn't see them:
Both have 3 pages of (I think!) interesting reading and info. I think Oxter is in New Zealand at the moment, so probably won't see this, unless he has access to the net.
