Am I restricted to any routes with a Motorhome of 7.m long and 2.9M high ? For example the fast ferrys can they take it the height? Also the prices seem outrageous on any route other than dover . Im looking to go in June . Is there a best/most cost effectivecrossing for northern France? Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Most articulated lorries are higher than that, and a heck of a lot longer.  But you may incur an extra surcharge for being higher than a caravan.  That's not unreasonable; no different to caravanners like myself paying a surcharge for being higher than a folding camper.  It's all to do with capacity; the bigger your outfit, the more you pay.

I would agree the prices anywhere apart from Dover are outrageous, obviously others disagree, as they use the routes. Any of the Dover operators will accomodate you, check their websites for fares. Norfolkline are often the cheapest, the others are P&O & LD Lines. I wouldn't bother with Seafrance, they go on strike & they may go bust shortly.

I would book your crossing asap as the fares will rise as it gets closer to summer. I have just checked Norfolkline website. They will ship your 7mtr motorhome in June for a return cost of between £53.50 & £77 depending of what time of day or night you sail.

we take the inlaws motorhome to France each summer (same size as yours) and have had no problems. First time we did the tunnel, this may we're paying more and doing Portsmouth- le Havre with LD lines only as it will save travelling time as we only have 9 days in France and want to get to our site as fast as possible.

Thanks everyone . Thinking of Norfolk Line Calais-Dunkirk now . Is it much further than Calais when heading down the coast towards brittany? ( in time please) . Also does anyone know of a good stop of the night before crossing as we are driving down from Scotland or would you just cross and stop in France?
