Val de Cantobre is a lovely site - probably much better than it looks on the website and the scenery is stunning, but it is a long way from anywhere - although a morning walk will take you into Nant which is a nice little village, especially on market day. We've walked in many times with our sons when they were smaller. We had lots of lovely times at Cantobre, and went back many times following our first visit in 1983.
Peyrelade is popular - and I think still has Eurocamp and other tour operators, so perhaps lots of friends for the children. The beach is lovely, and gets plenty of sun, pitches are quite shady, as they are at Les Peupliers. We've not stayed at Peyrelade, but have visited friends there.
The pool at Les Peupliers is about the same size as Peyrelade - both only small pools, but that's because people tend to 'mess about in the river'! The slide at Les Peupliers is not a huge one - and it is only open limited hours. Les Peupliers is situated in the village of Riviere sur Tarn - out of the gate and you're in the village. Peyrelade is a bit further to walk to anywhere. The village of Riviere sur Tarn is only small though! A Boucherie, a Boulangerie, a mini-shop, and a couple of small restaurants, and I think that's it - oh except for the lovely old man who sells his garden fruit and vegetables!
The scenery of the Tarn and Dourbie valleys is wonderful I think - and better than that around Lac de Pareloup, definitely.
Have you thought about a site in Millau itself - plenty of 'evening stroll' opportunities, and some fantastic views even from there. You're also an easy drive into the Tarn and Jonte gorges, and also within easy shopping distance of a supermarket. There are lots of sites situated alongside the river - I'm not sure if many of them have slides, though, but campsites in that area tend not to have really. I think Camping du Viaduc has small slides - or one of the sites alongside the river does, I've seen them from the other side of the road.
I don't suppose this has helped you choose, much at all, sorry!
