Hi all,

We've decided that next year we're going to tick another thing off the list of; "things to do before you die" and that we are going to drive down to the South of France and go camping.

Historically all our previous camping trips have been in the UK, so when it comes to Euro-Camping we are complete virgins.

We are looking for a quiet (preferablly non child) campsite, that's very short walking distance to the beach, a shop, elecy hook-up and shower's.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciatted, along with web sites, any anything else that other's might want to pass on.

Thanks in advance

We're going camping to the South of France this summer, but to (hopefully) get the sort of peace and quiet that you seem to be after we've plumped for sites away from the coast. We couldn't find anything actually on the coast that didn't sound like it would be huge, with lots of 'fun' things to do onsite, and hence full of families (which is great if you are a family, but not so good if you're a couple). In our three week trip we're staying at the following so that we can combine siteseeing and hiking - no reviews on here for any of them though, so lets hope they're ok! Not sure they're any good for you though!

As Jules&Jim say, most sites on or very near to the beaches tend to be large, and mainly aimed at families. It really depends however on when you are going. If you go in the school holidays, you're likely to see lots of children, in termtime, much less so. We travelled to http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=7186 for Whitsun last year and stayed a week after the school holidays and our children were the only ones on site (which they loved as they had their pick of lots of honorary grandparents for the week!) It's a beautiful site, a fifteen minute walk (or five minute cycle) to the beach along the river, small shop, bread van delivery, hook up, small but nice pool and a small bar/restaurant. hey take camping cheques off season too making it very good value, especially for a couple.

Oooh, that looks lovely exessexmum! We were thinking Languedoc for 2011 - I've saved it to my favorites for next year!

Hi Jules+Jim

Big thanks for those links, I especialy like the last one, "Camping La Camassade" and would suit us, as we are just a couple, I notice the site is a member of "Camping Qualite" amongst others, which I think is a good indicator, pitch price seams very reasonable for the location, without being to cheap if you get my drift, might just give that one a go next year, it will be good to get your site report, when you get back.

Edit re somthing strange happend to this post. webmaster inervention me thinks.
