I was at (or near) Les Eyzies, on a farm called Le Quaylou (on the road to Campagne, heading from Les Eyzies to Le Bugue), cheapest I could find, set price of 6€ per person per night, can't see doing much better down there, some of the most expensive sites I saw all trip were down there, & by expensive I mean not worth the extra IMO, as they were little or no better than the site I was on, which had some of the best views of the valley, west facing, so everyone was treated to the most fantastic sunsets, I only left there a few days ago, & spent 9 days in all down there.
Compiégne is lovely, I'm pretty sure my dad & me went through there on the boat last year, & stopped to do some shopping. The moorings weren't fantastic, but the town was lovely.
Small world, isn't it.

Thanks DK, I've still yet to finish the blog, but there's some quite interesting stuff happened in those last few days, & a few pics to go with it. I almost fell at the final hurdle, or rather the car did! All will be revealed, plus an extra bit about all the little things I forgot to mention, & I'll be camping on the bank holiday, which I may as well add.
I've also come to the conclusion it's a good idea to make the last few days of a long trip like that into a complete nightmare, that way you're not so depressed about coming home! In fact, I was more than ready to get into a normal bed & leave the car alone for a while!

I think you are right their Nutgone. We had 3 very long and tortuous journeys back from the Dordogne - Chartres (Friday), Chartres to Calais (Saturday) Calais - home (Sunday). I was more than ready for my bed and I don't think I have recovered yet.

I'm camping again this weekend funnily enough.
I left my netbook round my brothers house, & have only just picked it up. The completion of my blog is currently sitting, hand written, round my parents place. Maybe I will put the two together over this weekend, while I'm sat by my car at the old steam rally I'm exhibiting it at, near Eastbourne.
I may even put a cheeky reminder on here when it's done, it was quite a feat getting that car home for the last 800km or so, almost a case for "testing" my breakdown cover!

New posting on the blog today folks!

Thankyou minicamper2001, I was going to tell you all I have added some more to it, but feel it's not quite right to blow ones' own trumpet, so to speak.

It's still not quite finished though. I've got a little bit to say about the last leg to Dunkirk, plus a little passage I wrote about all the little details I missed & feel should be added (this has been a work-in-progress during a large part of the trip).
I suppose I should also add a bit about my equipment, as I kept promising I would.

I'm looking after my parents' house this weekend & all of next week, & I promise to have it all finished during this time.

I'm really touched that so many of you have enjoyed it, & that so many of you were more worried than my own family when I went AWOL for those few days. I'm already thinking about where to go next year, & as my old car passed its' MOT last weekend, I see no reason why it shouldn't be subjected to another mad road trip.
