Can anyone recommend a good campsite in the Vendee? We have been to Brittany 3 times. We really enjoyed le Conguel in Quiberon but want to go further South. We like fairly small sites but with enough to keep 12,13 and 16 year old kids entertained. We like to be able to cycle around the area a bit.We will be camping with a company so just need to know general info about the site, location etc. We're not keen on bingo, karaoke etc but would like a decent pool and somewhere/someone for the kids to hang out with.

I haven't been in the Vendee, but visited several other regions of France.
http://users.pandora.be/leo.huybrechts/camp1.htm is a site with links to hundreds of camping guides. Click on the french flag for the french camping guides. there are several good ones.
Camping Acapulco in St john de monts is a lovely site. its quite a large site but it had everything, including a really good pool complex. Beach, restaurants and super u all within a 10 to 15 minute walk out of the site. It was more frenchified(if this is a real word???) than other sites we've been to.
we've also been to Les amiaux also in st john de monts, this again was a nice site, with 2 pool areas.
there were plenty of people cycling on the roads around there so you should be quite safe.
hope this helps.

Cycling is very safe in the Vendee, almost every road has it's own cycle path, and it has the added bnus of being nice and flat!
We have stayed at Camping La Prairie in St Hilaire, which is only a couple of miles from St Jean De monts. It's a fairly small site, does have a small clubroom, but generally only discos, no bingo as far as I can remember. There is a semi static fun-fair about 2k's away which should keep the teens happy.
Like Patrick O I can definitely recommed Camping Le Pong. We stayed there in July this year and would definitely go back there. The owners are super friendly (as are all the staff), the swimming pools (2 plus toddlers) are good and the site is very well looked after.
Cycling in the area is good with loads to see and lots of places to go.
