Just took out cover through Red Pennant for up to 24 days for 2 adults and 2 Grandchildren , Personnel Cover , Car+Caravan = £143 which may be expensive but money well spent as far as I'm concerned as Red Pennant provide an excellent level of cover and wont leave you in the lurch unlike some of these cheaper travel insurance policy's . You only get what you pay for and if something were to happen I know that my car or caravan will be repatriated to the UK and a replacement will be found should the worst scenario happen .
You here of folks getting left high and dry when an accident happens abroad all because they fail to read the small print in these cheap policys

If I thought that the level of cover was as good as Red Pennant I would go for that but as I have the Grandchildren with us I cant leave things to chance and I dont see how they can offer the same level of cover as RP for such a low premium and I doubt if a replacement car or van would be included in the event of an accident and either being immobilised .

I sure it isn't the same level of cover.
However it seems comprehensive enough for my needs.
I just thought it may be of use to other members.

just had a quote for £60 with worldwideinsurance.com. not many insurers will touch us as our caravan is just short of 8 mts. seems like a good deal. has anyone used them before?
Warning read the small print! I do mine with the Caravan Club now, at an exhorbitant price, (penalty for towing with an older car), for years I did it with the RAC, but acccidentally found out one day when bored and reading the small print that it says that the replacement car was only 1600cc!!!!! and you did not get a tow ball. At least now I am covered for pretty much all eventualities, and when I did have to use it one year the service was fantastic.
Don't just go for the cheapest.
Check and double check what each policy includes.
Cheapest is not always the best.
I have got AA cover for europe not the cheapest but-
I broke down in Copenhagen Friday afternoon the AA-
Recovered me to the Mercedes Garage, when the problem was discovered they arranged and paid for a taxi, arranged and paid for a hotel, arranged and paid for a taxi to the airport, arranged and paid for a flight, arranged and paid for a hire car from the airport. They are transporting the van back to the UK as well.
So in a nutshell I reckon I got at least £400 worth of service.
If I don't use them again this year it has more than paid for itself.
They only cover a total length of 7m.
So thats no use then.
"Thank you for your email. As long as the total length of the car and what you are towing does not exceed 7 metres, it will be recovered. The car and trailer would be repatriated if the car cannot be repaired before your departure date."
