Hi all

Sorry to be a pina in the arse but even though Drancourt has wonderful reviews I am worrying about the weather (not that another 2 hrs will make that much difference I suppose??), and the area.

The price difference between Drancourt and Brevedent is only about 20E and I can't imgine we will use that much more petrol sooooo

question is- which one to choose?

Help! :)

xxxxxx

I think it depends what you want. I would expect there to be more going on at Drancourt but personally I would go to Brevedent. It just seems to have a nicer atmosphere.

I wanted a nice site with clean basics and a shop/bar and space.

I don't mind commercial sites.

I wanted a nice area and beaches, things to do in the area? For kids esp (doesnt have to be theme parks and rides though as styill young)

HJow far is the drive?  It says just under 3hrs on aa from calais but reviews say 3.5-4.5! x and one even says 2! x

Calais to Drancourt will be around 1 hours 40.

Calais to Brevedent will be around 3 hours 30.

Have you considered Camping de la Vallee at Houlgate. That's a good site for young families and is reasonably close to the beach. Its about the same distance as Brevedent. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5526

Chinster has it right, Le Brevedent is nothing like Drancourt, and if you like bar/pools/shops, Drancourt does it better. Le Brevedent willl be quiet next week, so if you like to make your own fun, perfect, otherwise, look elsewhere.

The area Trouville/Deauville/Villers/Houlgate has much to offer beachwise, and if you fancy the drive, there are a number of sites featured on here, with good reviews.

Drivewise, around 4 hrs from Calais.

Hey all

I think we stick to Drancourt- I had forgotten but I think I may have had this dilemma before when I was first looking at booking!

Is the weather much different between the 2 places?

I had a quick look at the site mentioned further up.. Vallee?? I don't think it takes the CC ACSI does it? Anyhoo the site looked a lot more expensive.

I am just panicking I have made the right choice and that i am not doing my kids out of better weather/ a nicerholiday just for the sake of a few euros and a bit more petrol.

But... I am hoping we have fun either way :)

Going to post seperate but does anyone know of any fruit picking places in the area of Drancourt?

Cheers x

Drancourt is close to St Valery which is lovely. I couldn't say about fruit picking in June though I know there's apple picking but that's later on. I liked the market in Rue, not too far away. Ask at the tourist office or check it online.

Been to both sites and Drancourt is alot bigger but that might not be a better thing depending on how old your children are. Le B feels a more secure site with plenty more freedom for our 2 ( 9 & 6) as it is more compact. The site has a shop and a bar as do most sites but the shop will charge you and with youngsters you'll never use the bar unless you have babysitters!!! Our 2 were in the pool every day and on the the lake in canoes (with an adult) as often as possible. Feeding the guinea pigs was a daily ritual!!! Beaches and zoos etc are not too far away.Driving from Calais took 4 hours with a caravan so in a car with no restrictions it would be a lot less. All you can do is check out the reviews and make your own decision either way the holiday will be what you make of it.
