Can anyone tell me if I purchased one of the free to air cards that sky sell (around £20 I think and put it in my sky box from home to take on holiday to the South of France, will it work or would it have to be paired to my sky box in place of the card currently in it?

I do have a big enough dish (the Maxview 66cms Eleptical).

Thanks

Firstly if you already have a Sky subscription card in your box, why not just use that, can't see why you would want to fork out £20 to get less channels, your dish should be OK, although I have found that an 80cm is best for down on the Cote d Azur, we go to the Southern Ardeche and our 60cm pulled in all the Sky channels, but not the BBC/ITV stuff, when we changed to 80cm dish we got the whole lot, although the site we were on had loads of tree shade, which was reducing the signal a little, otherwise the 60cm would probably have been OK.

Hi Francais

Thanks for the info, I did use my sky box and 66cms dish last year down near St. Tropez, but a friend told me that he thinks since sky updated the viewing cards lastt year, that it will not work on the continent now. to be honest I dont see why it would not work, I just wanted to be prepared if I get down there, take all the Sat gear to find it doesn't work.

I have a £20 Sky card with my old Sky box, which I take to the Dordogne /Brive area.  I have no problems with all channels including BBC,ITV etc.  I have the cheapest 80 cm dish possible. Only hard part is making sure I'mpicking the right signal.

Save your £20.

If you take your Sky Digibox from home and use your existing Sky card, you can get all channels you subscribe to.

A Zone 2 dish is good all the way down to the South of France. Don't be coerced into forking out your hard earned on equipment you dont need !

Zone 2 Dish down in the Cote d Azur, I dont think so, 80cm will do the job.
