thanks, ldpdmp. Sounds very good. We also like to have French campers around us when in their country. We are going there from 5 July and we'll see how it goes from there. Did you mean there is a festival in Chateaurenard itself at that time?

Hi flymo

We found this site purely by chance, and what a find! It's a lovely little site, I believe that the owners have also put a pool in since we were there.  As ldpdmp said were were also the only Brits but the owners and other campers made us feel very welcome.  If I remember rightly our pitch had an apricot tree on it, they told us just to help ourselves!

The festival was great - camargue horsemen running bulls through the centre of the town and a procession of at least 50 horses pulling the religious floats - not at the same time!  The festival is the first weekend of July so you may get there as it's coming to the end I'm afraid.

The site is well situated for visiting loads of places, apart from Avignon such as St. Remy, Arles, Nimes the Pont du Gard, the Camargue... the list is endless.

What ever you do have a fabulous holiday.

Gill

Hi, Gill,
it really does sound good, even if we will have missed the Chateaurenard festival by the time we get there. There will be plenty to see and do in the area.

There are lots of similar festivals all around that area - pick up a leaflet from Tourist Information.  We saw a very similar thing in Le Grau du Roi - bull running, parade, bands, and a free evening event which was great, in the Arena, with local bands.

The market in St Remy is definitely worth a visit too.

plenty festivals in all the villages around th place   we have been going to st remy for about 7 years  and there is something different on each time     avignon festival itself is the big one but all th others are really good  small but great     the provencal parades are spectacular    50 plus horses pulling the decorated floats  are spectacular - but can be smelly!! with all those horses   st remys final parade of 100 loose camargue horses going round the ring road is somethin to hehold  especillay at 11 o clock at night

oh the site - yes there is a pool  and a meal during the week for guest too  not dear and great to get to know people  they make a fuss of you cos you are a foreigner   would that happen in the uk! I wonder
