You can get real varied weather, even in the hottest places - we've had 30 degrees during a holiday, followed within a few days by a night with a ground frost!  I'd take a sheet, but also something warmer, too, just in case.  We have a duvet, and a cotton sheet - if it's hot we use the sheet, if not the duvet, and occasionally if it's very cold, both!

We use the same kit whether we'e going Northern or South France. We manage with just a sheet to put over the airbed, and either the sleeping bag  or a duvet for on top (never both). The kids usually take a blanket each, one of those fleecy things, which they use for covering up on the journey, they also use them as sunshields or for lying on in the sun, hammocks etc.    We take pj's with vest style tops (just the girls and me, not OH in a vest) to keep cool and a long sleeved top to wear over if it is a cold night.

We've devised this after a couple of holidays and associated rows about dragging a load of luggage/ sheets /duvets etc "half way across europe" (anyone elses OH prone to exaggerate during rows) and then dragging it back again unused..but having to be washed.
