Can anyone recommend a good caravan site - large pitches, well maintained but with suitable facilities for 2 teens 16 and 18yrs?  We as the parents like beautiful scenery and peace and quiet, but realise we may have to compromise for the sake to avoid two sulky teens.  I guess we need a bar area with other kids of a similar age plus a good pool etc.  Would also like within walking distance of a beach and a village - too much to ask?   - around the Normandy area/Honfleur area - I am trawling the campsites at the moment, but if anyone can shortcut me to somewhere worth visiting - then I'd be most grateful.

my 16 and 18 yr olds are 'demanding' Le Soleil at Argeles sur Mer - big site right next to beach, beach bar and 0000 - 0400 disco [- but I am told most leave before it shuts to go to the beach]. The site is quiet but the location loud with a funfair nearby.

yep - I know - a long way south of Normandy

I'd agree with Karend2728 - we took my son and his friend there as teenagers a few years ago, and they loved it - plenty of other youngsters around, a 'dedicated' teenage disco in a cellar bar, plenty of security at night, and lots of activities such as paint-balling, etc.  It also had a good main pool complex, with a second pool which was open at night sometimes, a fishing lake, take-away, and so on.

The countryside around is lovely, like rolling English hills, and you're near enough to the beach to have days out there, too.  There are various beaches, long flat ones when you can sand-yacht, or small coves with just a small beach bar/take-away, plus some walks around beautiful cliffs.  You can visit the small walled towns of  Dinan, as well at St Malo, which many people overlook, and not far from the site is the Chateau at Comburg.

If Chateau des Ormes is too far for you have a look here - it gets good reviews.

Thankyou everyone, for your very helpful ideas.  It looks like we will go with Castels des-ormes as it reads well and looks as though the teens would be kept occupied if we wanted to go off and do our own thing.  We stayed at Castels Le Brevedent a couple of years ago for a couple of nights and the standards are high and their sites are in lovely settings - I also have Tesco vouchers to use on the Eurotunnel, saving me £300 on a crossing - so even better!

You can't save £300 on a crossing
Crossings only cost about £40 - with Norfolk Lines
and ferries are better than tunnels

I can tell you TethersEnd that the quote I got online, this evening, from Eurotunnel was just over £300 return, with an 8m caravan - same as it was about 3 years ago when we went via Eurotunnel and again, I used my Tesco vouchers. So, don't go telling me, 'You cant save £300 on a crossing' - because I can!
