hi we are looking at going to france next year to a eurocamp or keycamp site using the tents provided

has anybody stopped at any of these, we are looking at southern brittany, want to know really how long car drive from calais, and if sites are nice and tents good etc

any info would be gratefully recieved

Hi we have used eurocamp several times and never had any problems. We have also used vacansoleil as well ( they tend to be slightly cheaper and have slightly quieter sites). We like the fact that you can just turn up and not have to start putting up tent when kids and us are tired also at end you can just drive away -more room in the car etc. 

The journey time from Calais to Brittany is longer than you may think though ( took us 10hours) I would suggest looking at sailings to cherbourg - slightly dearer but less travelling time and less petrol, tolls etc.

Brittany is gorgeous though- enjoy

We went to southern brittany in may for 10 nights in a Eurocamp static.  Tokk us around 8 hours to drive from Calis down to Trinite sur Mer.  Including 1/2 hour break.

Can really recomend Camping De La Baie - excellent site although they only had a few pre pitched tents. 

We have stayed in the Eurocamp tents twice in the past and they are waterproof  with a couple of plug point sna d a fridges,  The beds were really uncomfortable.  For the money we would rather do France in May half term (in a static) when it's much cheaper and then tent camp in the UK in August.

May half-term is far cheaper than the main summer holidays and the price difference between tents and mobiles is not that great. We're thinking of going in a mobile home in the Vendee next May probably with the fastcraft from Portsmouth to Caen. Yes it's more expensive but it's better for us, may go back via Cherbourg.

I went on lots of holidays to EC as a child and loved them. Next year we're likely to do what the previously poster has said and do a mobile with EC in May and then camping in Cornwall in Aug.

I've a friend who's been going to South Brittany for several years each May, driving from Dover with a car full of kids, although they're going to Wales this year as didn't want all the driving.

Like lots of others we started camping in France with Eurocamp, and always enjoyed the sites and the tents.  We've also used Canvas Holidays - and actually prefer the design of their tents if you have children as the parent's bedroom is separated from the children, and you can 'block off' the kitchen which is at the back of the tent.

My son was also a courier with Canvas Holidays - and they are a good company to work for.

If you can go outside the main school holidays in July/August then you can get some real bargains.

Although we have all our own kit for camping in this country, we have used Eurocamp in France and beyond for over 10 years. It makes for a hassle free holiday, especialy with four kids. You can tailor your arrival and departure dates to suit you and combine several sites into one holiday.

Of course it is more expensive, but for us the welcome of the couriers (often with cool drinks), the sight of the tent already set up, the proper fridge/freezer, proper beds and good solid furniture makes it all worthwhile. After a long drive you can just relax straight away.

There is a wide variety of sites. Our kids obviously preferred the all-singing-all-dancing sites when they were younger because of the kids clubs, but you generally get the best couriers at the smaller sites where the couriers are often newly retired, camping-mad, couples who cannot do enough for you.

We switched to Canvas holidays last year, and can highly recommend their 'Family Extra' sites for the calibre of children's couriers and their activities. We can also recommend Ty Nadan in Brittany (several companies are there). We are going to Venice with Keycamp this summer - only chose this company because we wanted a particular site and to be in a tent and this was the only company available at the time. They are a sister company to Eurocamp, slightly cheaper, and the couriers tend to work together anyway.
