A good few years ago (probably more than 15) we went to one in the Vendee area. It was lovely. Everything was great and we all had a good time. The boys were around 6 and 8 at the time.
Can't think of anything I would have changed about any of it apart from the long drive from the Outer Hebrides.
We did do 2 overnight stops in UK but did France in one long drive.
Sorry - not much help

We have done Eurocamp several times. Ty Naden is a good site in Brittany.

We now prefer to use our own equipment as it is so much cheaper and more freedom re campsites.

However definitely worth doing to get the feel of camping in France before venturing out on your own.

My family camped with EC for the first time when I was 8, 10 years later I worked for them aged 18, now 28!

They are great, have everything u need so all you need to worry about is having fun and seeing things when you are there.

If you only do 1 night at a site, be prepared for a rubbish pitch, if staying longer, you should get a nice pitch, do ask to move if not happy but may mean hassle for them as people come and go often.

They are cleaned by the staff on site, and everything is sorted as staff are there all the time

Its not cheap but a great way to have everything sorted.

Another option is Eurocamp Independant ...... take your own tent.

Hi we have used eurocamp several times and never had any problems. We have also used vacansoleil as well ( they tend to be slightly cheaper and have slightly quieter sites). We like the fact that you can just turn up and not have to start putting up tent when kids and us are tired also at end you can just drive away -more room in the car etc.

The journey time from Calais to Brittany is longer than you may think though ( took us 10hours) I would suggest looking at sailings to cherbourg - slightly dearer but less travelling time and less petrol, tolls etc.

Brittany is gorgeous though- enjoy

We went to southern brittany in may for 10 nights in a Eurocamp static.  Tokk us around 8 hours to drive from Calis down to Trinite sur Mer.  Including 1/2 hour break.

Can really recomend Camping De La Baie - excellent site although they only had a few pre pitched tents.

We have stayed in the Eurocamp tents twice in the past and they are waterproof  with a couple of plug point sna d a fridges,  The beds were really uncomfortable.  For the money we would rather do France in May half term (in a static) when it's much cheaper and then tent camp in the UK in August.

May half-term is far cheaper than the main summer holidays and the price difference between tents and mobiles is not that great. We're thinking of going in a mobile home in the Vendee next May probably with the fastcraft from Portsmouth to Caen. Yes it's more expensive but it's better for us, may go back via Cherbourg.

I went on lots of holidays to EC as a child and loved them. Next year we're likely to do what the previously poster has said and do a mobile with EC in May and then camping in Cornwall in Aug.

I've a friend who's been going to South Brittany for several years each May, driving from Dover with a car full of kids, although they're going to Wales this year as didn't want all the driving.

Some years since we did Eurocamp. In Brittany we did Guilvinec and Quiberon in the south (both had beach access) and Dol and St Cast in the north.

I would thoroughly recommend Eurocamp to anyone especially with a young family - it is a quality package and the staff are very helpful.

You will however find you can normally rent a mobile home direct from many sites for the same price as a Eurocamp tent. After a couple of years with Eurocamp that is what we did for a number of years.

As for the journey when going Calais to Brittany I have always done an overnight break - the last time (2002) we stopped in the Novotel at Bayeaux.

Like lots of others we started camping in France with Eurocamp, and always enjoyed the sites and the tents.  We've also used Canvas Holidays - and actually prefer the design of their tents if you have children as the parent's bedroom is separated from the children, and you can 'block off' the kitchen which is at the back of the tent.

My son was also a courier with Canvas Holidays - and they are a good company to work for.

If you can go outside the main school holidays in July/August then you can get some real bargains.

for the last 3 years we have gone to France we have stayed in mobiles home with Eurocamp, Canvas and Siblu.  The first 2 years we just went to Les Mouettes and Chateau des Ormes in Brittany but last year we had a bit of a tour and went as far as Spain.  We've generally had problem free holidays except for last year when they couldn't find our booking and we had to wait over 4 hours on the hottest day while they sorted it out.  I did book to go with Keycamp this year for 2 weeks last 2 weeks of the hols for roughly £2000 but ended up cancelling and booking both sites originally booked with Keycamp for exact same dates to take our own kit with an additional 3 days at another site for 1/4 of the price but I'm glad we used mobile homes for the first few holidays as it has given us the confidence to take our own kit this year

Have used both Eurocamp and Eurocamp independent, no problems with either.
As said beore their are other companies providing a similar service, worth comparing prices.
You should do an internet search for camping holidays in France you will hopefully find most of them.

I used EC a lot when the children were young  then discovered Matthews Holidays which are a smaller company but I was very impressed with them- they were cheaper too! I don't know if they have tents but their mobile homes were really good.

Although we have all our own kit for camping in this country, we have used Eurocamp in France and beyond for over 10 years. It makes for a hassle free holiday, especialy with four kids. You can tailor your arrival and departure dates to suit you and combine several sites into one holiday.

Of course it is more expensive, but for us the welcome of the couriers (often with cool drinks), the sight of the tent already set up, the proper fridge/freezer, proper beds and good solid furniture makes it all worthwhile. After a long drive you can just relax straight away.

There is a wide variety of sites. Our kids obviously preferred the all-singing-all-dancing sites when they were younger because of the kids clubs, but you generally get the best couriers at the smaller sites where the couriers are often newly retired, camping-mad, couples who cannot do enough for you.

We switched to Canvas holidays last year, and can highly recommend their 'Family Extra' sites for the calibre of children's couriers and their activities. We can also recommend Ty Nadan in Brittany (several companies are there). We are going to Venice with Keycamp this summer - only chose this company because we wanted a particular site and to be in a tent and this was the only company available at the time. They are a sister company to Eurocamp, slightly cheaper, and the couriers tend to work together anyway.

The quality of the euro/keycamp tents is very good, i doubt that you would be dissapointed. As others have said its a good introduction to camping abroad and maybe you'll take your own tent next time.

One point re your route. The Condor ferries Weymouth/Poole to St Malo is probably the cheapest western port route ans is convenient for south Brittany. It costs more than any of the Dover ferrries or euro tunnel but addding the mileage costs from Dover and a possible stopover en route you may think its worth a looksee. We used it last year, its a bit bonkers as they use a Catamaran which on the longer western route can be quite sickly. However you can deal with that(i.e prevent it!) that you may like the convenience.

South Brittany is such a great place.
