It's always worth going earlier. Everyone gets shuffled forwards onto earlier trains, so that free's up space on later ones (if you know what I mean) And one of the later ones, will be an earlier one for you. Trust me, you will get an earlier train.

Even if when you get to the tunnel and you get allocated one train time, you still can get boarded onto an earlier one direct from the lanes. It's happen to us!

One year we arrived at Dover early for a ferry crossing and were asked to pay £20 extra.We declined  and opted for our normal booking.

We were sat in the lane when boarding took place and were asked what we were waiting for .

The crew told us to get on the boat.

i asked about this because i normally take a ferry.
