Looking for a 1 or 2 night stopover somewhere between the Alps (Morzine) and Rome... would like shady pitch and nice swimming pool/beach close by. Ideally would split the journey fairly evenly.
Usually go 3* plus but for just 1 or 2 nights we really just need clean toilets and a nice pool

It's a little more than halfway to Rome, but Camping Toscana Village at Montopoli, midway between Livorno and Florence, is very nice. We stayed there in November 2008 (see my review on this website.) It was cold and wet in November, and of course the pool wasn't open, but it looked as if it would be lovely in good weather! The toilets were very nice, and if you stay more than one night it's well worth visiting some of the wonderful historic towns in the area.

We stopped here for a couple of nights on route to Rome a few years back, it is just south of Bologna. It was ok, can't remember if the pool was on the site or in the sports complex next door!
Hi, we're planning on going to cinque terre in july this year and we noticed your review on the acqua dolce campsite. due to the high cost of accommodation in the area were considering camping, you seemed very happy with this site could you give us more details. how much was it to pitch up there, can you rent a tent, and are there secure places to keep your belongings whilst your out? any information is much appreciated, thanks.
Dee and Olly.
