Planning next years hols and im wondering how much to allow for spending - food, days out, tourist tax, etc. I've already done a budget for campsite and travel costs including tolls, fuel and tunnel.
Our week on isle of wight cost approx £1050 which is made up mostly (£700) on activities and food, so i'm a bit concerned that costs will escalate.
We are looking to spend the majority of our time on beach during 10 day stay, the oh is teetotal so won't be getting through much wine at all. The party will be made up of me, oh and 2 kids - 16/11 yrs, staying in south france.
Also are there any basic provisions that we should be looking to bring with us.
Yes, this is our first european adventure, lol.

We are a family of 5 - 2 adults, 2 older teens and a 6yr old. We allow £100 per day which covers trips out, food, fuel etc. We don't eat out a lot, mostly bbq with friends - that said, we do have at least 2 to 3 meals out during our stay.
Last year we found the price of meat had rocketed, so this year I have bought a whole load of chicken, burgers, sausages & steaks and frozen them. They will last a good week - only need to add salad etc. For lunch we just have baguette, salad, cold meats, cheeses etc.
We always come back with money (last year over £400!) but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Quite a hard one to answer,as everyones holiday is different, this year we never had more than 200Euro cash between us at any one time, the rest of our wonga was on one of those Thomas Cook cash passport cards, which I think are a great idea, in fact we spent quite a bit less cash than last year, even though our stay in France was a day longer this year at 18 days, most purchaces like fuel and groceries and meals out went on the credit card, this was convienet and no commision charge with good exchange rate, we even run a separate credit card for the Tolls, as we use the TAG device from SANEF TelePeage, and the way SANEF bill you means we don't pay the Toll charges for our June/July holiday untill September.
