We have just returned from west of StTropez, a little place called LaFaviere near Bormes Les Mimosas, a fantastic place with cobbledy fishing type resorty harbour towns, lovely scenery and not as busy as Frejus or as commercialised (went there in 08) we did the vendee last year and although a nice place and we had nice weather it reminded me of cornwall in the sun, the scenery and weather completely change south of Lyon and IMHO its worth the extra drive if you want somewhere with guaranteed sun and different scenery. Visiting places like StTropez and Monaco etc are easily done.
We set off the last weekend in July so we didn't hit the Paris holiday rush to the coast, no traffic on the way down but we did queue for the tolls on the A8 on the way home and hit other delays which meant we got to our stop at Macon 2 hrs later than planned. Next day we got to Calais for 7pm and crossed over and drove to friends in Kettering...a total of 600m in one day, sounds a lot but quite easy on french autoroutes when taken in bite size chunks.
Weather....30ish daytime and 20ish night time for 2 weeks, this was cooler than the last visit here and we did notice cloud attempting to come in from the north, this produced a 10min shower one night (it woke me up)!!!!
Hi Sproz. Did you stay on a camp site in the area? Which one and can you recommend it?
Thanks HC
Yes...on the beach! here; http://www.campdudomaine.com/
Lovely site with many hedged large pitches, each with either a straw or steel sun shelter, as with anywhere in France some pitches were larger than others and some had difficultish access, we were lucky with our pitch, although it was actually a 15min walk to the beach through the site (because we booked late so ended up far from the beach)...it is a large site. Our friends ended up with a smaller pitch down a narrow "track" and they have a 20 odd foot twin axle!! the mover earned its keep!! The beach side pitches are great with direct access down 2 steps to the sand!! although these are at a premium and how they cram them all in there I don't know! Very clean site...shower blocks a plenty.. rarely a queue, bins emptied daily so no flies or wasps..lots of bloody ants though (clever ones!!). Beach was good with watersports etc and not too crowded if you get down there before 2pm ish. Expensive site but recommended, its not on the site search here, don't know how I could add it?

Hi Sproz sorry to be a pain but roughly how many miles is the site from ferry's/tunnel? How long did it take you to drive?
Thanks
Ian
