Once your dog has been treated, you can't return to the UK for 24 hours. We always used vets on the way to the ports, a days drive away, so we didn't have to hang around in the North. Favourites for us were in Couhe, St Quentin and Cany-Barville (cheapest) If any of these appeal to you I will post more details.
hi polobonnie I stayed at Chateau de Ganspette in Eperleques, which is about twenty miles from Dunkirk. I stayed there this year (beg of August). The vet is very close to the caravan site, Dr Janus Paulus is the vet there. The cost was £52.00 for my dog which is a labrador, as it was our first time to France it was alot of worrying for nothing really. I emailed the vet before going and got my apointment.

We got back from France last Friday. We had pre-booked Camping Chateau Gandspette for 3 days and took Max our collie to the local vet Jean Paulus. That's the second time we've been there.
He is just down the road from Chateau Gsp. I was not over impressed as he charged €43 for administering a a worming tablet, in cheese and Frontline on his neck. He did not even check Max over as his colleague did 2 years previously.
I think we will try for another vet in future as I was not over impressed by the service for the cost as at home we adminster exactly the same medicines ourselves!!
I, also, think that at c£28/night Chateau Gsp is very expensive too and rather exploits its proximity to the ferries. When we've not had the dog with us we've stayed in the Norfolk Line carpark at Dunkerque for free!!

Hi, can I take you up on your offer to post more details? thanks

Gandspette is a nice site and good value when it accepts Camping Cheques - at £13.95 or less, depending on what you originally bought them for - but expensive in peak season. However, we always have our last night there - ALWAYS in the Camping Cheque season!

Hi Val, we were happy to be there last year - how near is it to Dunkerque?
