We are trying to plan 2 weeks away next july/August with our 2 kids aged 14 and 9 to Brittany with our caravan. Where is the best place to catch ferry from and too and any good sites for my kids on the beach??????????????

The best place to catch the ferry from..Portsmouth to St Malo would also be by far the most expensive. Check Brittany Ferries website for costs. For a fraction of the price you could cross from Dover but with obviously much more driving in France. The Dover route would still work out far cheaper even with extra fuel/toll costs. Norfolk Line is usually cheapest for car/caravan but Eurotunnel can be low cost if you pay with Tesco clubcard vouchers.
Condor Ferries do a Sunday crossing that is more reasonable but more travelling as it goes Portsmouth to Cherbourg. St Malo is a better crossing overnight with a cabin. Do they do a daytime crossing?
We used Plymouth to Roscoff, 8 am crossing and then three hours to Southern Brittany , Camping De La Baie- great site, right on the beach. Our kids are 13 & 11 and had a great time with good weather.
We used Plymouth / Roscoff because we only live 1h 30mins drive away, but this year the cost was over £200 more for same dates and timesso went via tunnel using Tesco vouchers and stayed in the Loire area.If money isn't a problem imo Plymouth / Roscoff is best to get you to all parts of Brittany.
I would really recommend the beach/tidal lake at La Letty. Camping du Letty is actually on the beach, it comes highly recommended, but we have not stayed there ourselves, we were a little further north at Orangerie de Laneron near Quimper.

We use Plymoth-Roscoff or Portsmouth-St Malo when we go to Brittany. We live up by Edinburgh and by the time we've driven down to the south we really don't want to be going all the way along to Dover too, then back along through France! We would have to stop for an overnighter somewhere anyway so we just do it on the ferry and get a cabin. Yes, it costs more but it saves us a great deal of driving time and hassle.
Brittany has a lot of coastine btw, so there's a lot of beaches as well as cliffs and coves. What kind of campsite do you want?
We stayed at Le Letty in Benodet the first 2 weeks in August. The site is right on the beach, our 2 kids (13 and 6) had a fantastic time. The facilities are spot on and clean. I would highly recommend this site. Good Luck.
We used Plymouth - Roscoff last year out and St Malo - Portsmouth back for a two week holiday at Ty Nadan. Had a cabin on the way out overnight as hence the fact it cost far more than this year's three weeks in the South with a Dover - Calais crossing.
Roscoff is really easy to get away from as it's so small. Ty Nadan a great activity site with river running through site but 15/20 minutes from beaches
