We're planning a route heading south east from Fontainbleau towards Blois on the N152.  Does anyone have experience of this road?  What's it like getting through Orleans? Any advice would be appreciated.

Its not really a problem, you just come onto the town ring rd & carry on all the way around it. Can't remember if its signposted to Blois but it is signed to A10 sud. which will point you in the right direction.

Stay out of Orleans, its not nice!  If the trams don't get you, the narrow roads in the centre will.  Try to plot a way around, even if it means a few junctions of peage, it'll be well worth it.

Well indeed, the op could join the A19 where the N152 goes under it just sth of Pithivers, join the A10sth & get back onto the N152 on't outskirts of Orleans for(I guess), about 3€ toll, so probabley a better option. Theres no need to go thru Orleans centre tho, the town ring rd is easy enough to navigate but you would need to look at sign posts, not a satnav tho.

I remember orleans like a ruddy bad hangover!!.. as soon as i saw N152 on the post subject I shivered!!

We ended up going through the centre a couple of years ago and with 2 outfits to try and keep together in convoy as our friend didn't have navigation or maps (or any idea where he was... or was going!!!) it was not good!!

Use the peage and it's a doddle - well worth a couple of euro - you'd spend that in petrol if/when you get lost - not to mention the stress saved,

Thanks to all for the advice - it's much appreciated.  It sounds as if a few euros on the peage will be money well spent!

We had to get off the payage once at Orleans as was caught up in bad traffic so decided to get on the N road which was fine. We have driven through the centre twice on the way south and dont remember it being a problem. Its much much faster on the payage and worth the money if you want to get there fast.

My sentiments entirely. For a few euros on the autoroute it's not worth the hassle of trying to go through the centre.
