Help everyone!

We are having difficulty finding (and agreeing) on a campsite in France for next year.  My husband and I want somewhere with a bit of sunshine - so we thought in the Gironde area would be ideal.  Thing is, we are taking three great big hulking lads (aged 16, 17 and 18) and need somewhere where they will be kept entertained, so we don't want somewhere too quiet or too children-orientated where the only facilities are a playground or a plastic octopus!

Any suggestions?

Hello Swizzie. The site we stayed at this year was great for the family with active kids....Bonne Anse Plage, near Royan. It's on the Gironde/Gascony border. There's a review of it in my profile!

Let me know if you want any more info?

We always go up the Gironde peninsular--its cheaper to drive round via Bordeaux than take the ferry from Royan-(£20 odd)--lovely beaches--if your boys like surfing its good for that-a few large campsites in the Montalivet/Soulac area---but if you want all night drinking-etc-you may find it a bit quiet----

Hi Floydfan - I've just visited the website for Bonne Anse Plage, but it says on there that they don't take advance bookings for pitches!  It tells you to telephone 2 days before you go to make a reservation.  Is that right?  I must admit I like to know my site is booked before I book my ferry etc.

I have never found you need to book sites in SW France even at peak time (mid Jul to mid Aug)--thats why its so nice-it never gets too crowded---

Upto 3rd week in July we can get a pitch in SW France without booking, but lfrom the last week in July through to the end of August, anywhere near a beach, you may only get a couple of nights in a site if anything, in my experience.
