Hi everyone I wonder if you could help me. I am looking to go camping for three weeks next year in southern France and have two questions to ask.

Could anyone recommend a site suitable for a family of four, two adults and two boys one 15 and the other 8.

Also is there a way to take my car and trailer via train to avoid the drive.

Many thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark

It's best if you provide a bit more detail about the sort of sites you like.

There is a lot of difference between sites on the busy coastal strip and sites a bit more inland. Then there is the rivers of the Ardeche, Verdon or Tarn/Dourbie/Jonte gorges. Then there is large, medium or small sites with the larger ones being busier and noisier...

Hi Ollie

Thanks for the response we are looking for a quiet site ideally with a pool & a play area, inland around an hour from the coast.

Other than that we are quite open

Thanks

Mark

Mark, read my review of this site - its fab and ticks all your boxes except that the coast is about 30 minutes away.

Hi, can I suggest Les Genets d'Or in the same general area. We have just got back from there and I have not had time to do a review. The site is not on here, but was recommended to me by another poster. Our children are 15, 13 and 11 and said it is the best holiday we have had. There is a heated pool, no slides, but you have direct access to the river where you can swim, boat and fish. All the facilities were very clean. Not as many facilities as Claydoncamper's recommendation, but not as expensive, either. There is lots to see within a half-hour drive, such as Avignon, the Pont du Gard and Roque sur Ceze. The coast is within about an hour (maybe less), but we didn't visit as we were perfectly happy around the site.

We were the only English people there, but that didn't matter as most of the others were Dutch and speak fantastic English. My sons (15 and 11) made friends that will be keeping in contact with. There was late-night swimming (mostly for the 10-18 year olds) from 9.30 to 11 three times a week. Also, FREE wi-fi.

Sorry, can't help with the getting there by train as we always drive.

Unfortunately, I believe the French Motorail no longer runs LINK - it was very expensive
