I replied earlier to your thread - but our electricity was cut off by lightning, the thread was lost, and the electricity has only just come back on!
My sons definitely rate Lacananau Ocean - and they're both surfers. They say its the best surfing without having to go all the way down to Biarritz or Hossegor. They usually stay at L'Airotel de L'Ocean, or Les Grand Pins - both handy for town, apparently. There are several other sites, including Les Tamaris and Le Tedey - but no reports about these (we haven't stayed at any - so these are second-hand recommendations). Probably best of all is that several of the sites in Lacanau, and other places along that coast, take either an ACSI card (makes the cost of a night for two people, car and caravan, awning and electricity 15 euros), Touring Cheques (£12.95 for the same 'deal') or Soleil Cheques - even better value at £9.00 per night for the same deal. Check out the websites for details - all this year's prices though, so rates may differ next year.

There are lots of sites 'missing' from this website - I keep adding new ones, but I'm surprised that none of the Lacanau sites are on here! Perhaps it's because it is definitely a 'young people's area'! I'll ask my youngest son this evening for his opinion about Les Grand Pins, or L'Airotel.
If it's any help, the Caravan Club Europe book reviews
Les Grand Pins: Excellent, well organised site, large pitches, doesn't feel too overcrowded - even when full.
L'Airotel: Attractive site/holiday village in pine woods behind sand dunes. Care in choosing pitch because of soft sand.
You could also have a look at the Alan Rogers website, which does 'independent' campsite inspections. There are lots of reviews on the Eurocamping website which give an average score of 7.7 - but none in English!
