Hi

I am looking to go away next year to the Liguria Area and was wondering if anyone has already done this and can give me some advice. I have read that most pitches are fairly small? Our group will consist of 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 12 - 17 so any advice of things to do would be great. We are looking to go somewhere in walking distance to a town and a coastal result although with the latter if it had good pool facilities this would not be such a must. Has anybody been to San Remo as this is the kind of area we are looking at as we would also like to visit St Tropez at some stage. Any help would be very much appreciated as we have never done Italy before.

We stayed at Camping Villaggio dei Fiori in San Remo in November 2008 and I have posted a review of it.  The pitches were a good size but completly brick-paved, so I imagine it would be hard to put an awning up.  In wet and stormy winter weather it was hard to imagine,  but as far as we could tell the pool and facilities looked as if they would be very good in warm weather!  There was a nice restaurant with a proper wood-fired pizza oven.  San Remo itself looked as if there would be lots to do in season, and the surrounding area was pretty.  It's not far to the French border - we drove to Aix-en-Provence for our next stop and it was an easy trip.

We found the pitches in Italy tiny compared to those in France and the UK.

We took an Outwell Nevada tent which is only 5M x 3M and we didn't have room for the front canopy on any of the pitches, in fact on most we couldn't fit the car and on one we couldn't even get a table and chairs outside the tent.

Definitely check the size of pitch when you book.

Christine
