I was wondering if anyone could recommend a campsite in the Brittany/Normandy region which has onsite or very nearby lake or river fishing to keep hubby happy for next summer?

The site also needs to have a good pool - we have 2 children (11 & 8) and also have enough going on to keep them occupied, although we do prefer small/medium sized laid back sites .  We have a large tent so pitch size is important too!

I will be grateful for any ideas you may have before I set off on my mammoth campsite trawl over the next few months!

Camping Mane Guernehue, Southern Brittany. Great pools/slides, lovely family site with fishing lakes at the far end. Good area and gets the best weather in Brittany.

Ty Nadan in Brittany has a lovely shallow river - really great for kids on inflatable boats.  Saw lots of fishermen too.............. not sure if they caught much though!!

The fish in the River Elle are very illusive.

Hi helsybob

We were looking for a campsite in Normandy/Brittany with fishing for husband but now think we may go to Paris during May, we were looking at the campsite you will be staying and Les Etangs Fleuris, I see that you have already stayed there and wondered if you could let us know what the fishing is like at that site, do people bivy up around the lake or is it just day fishing. Have stayed at Croix du vieux pont before and husband like that for the fishing but I though the Etangs would be more convenient for me, kids and friend to get into paris leaving husband fishing.   Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Bommer

I dont fish so am not an expert but there are 2 decent size white fish ponds - you pay by the half day to fish at 5E a time, although if you go late afternoon Sophie normally lets you do it for free.  We went in SPring Bank and it wasnt crowded in fact not many fishing at all - we didnt catch much only small ones but was DH first time and he did enjoy it.  The bar area is full of pictures of huge carp so Im sure theyre in there somewhere.  There is also a trout lake - more expensive to fish but I suppose you can eat what you catch where as you have to put the others back. One of the lakes is next to the pool so ideal if you and the kids are spending time as you can just shout over the railings if hubby is fishing.  We really enjoyed this site and will be going back again in 2011 primarily because it gives DH some time for his beloved fishing whilst me and the kids do our thing and it is so convenient for Paris and Eurodisney so would recommend it.

Ive also found the other site you mention and it is on the list of potentials for next summer as it also looks a good all round site with something for everyone including fishing.  My 2 kids will are 10 & 7 so we need something to suit us all.

Hope this helps and let me know if you come across any more fishing sites!

Domaine Litteau (Siblu) in Normandy would meet your needs, two fishing lakes on site and a great pool.  Lots of D-Day stuff to do as well.
