Hi, I can't help with anything recent as it is years since we were there. The surrounding area is gorgeous, there are lovely coastal walks and the area has (or had when we used to go) retained it's character, not being too touristy. We went La Siesta at least 7 times when the kids were small till their teenage years - we tried Estartit about 45 minutes away but La Siesta won hands down for the site and for the location. My grown up kids are always talking about wanting to go back and check it out.
went there for 2 weeks in 2008 and had a great time. Very relaxed atmosphere and a nice compromise between the huge complexes and smaller sites around. Beautiful surrounding area with lots to see and do.
Try this link for local info - this beach is a 10 min walk from the site
we took the overnight ferry to Le Havre (LD Lines) and drove 500 miles to B&B in Toulouse. We arrived at La Siesta early afternoon the day after. It sounds like a treck but it was a very straight forward and easy drive (we did use the Autoroutes though)
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I really wouldn't like to say. We probably did around 2,000 miles round trip plus the ferry (about £350 if I remember correctly). The car was the option we chose because we wanted to take our own kit (plus it's all part of the adventure )
We're thinking about returning next year and staying in one of their timber chalets (which looked nice) so looking at getting some cheap flights to Barcelona and hiring a car.
can't comment on the site itself, we stayed at camping moby dick which we found fine for our needs, the area is very nice and calella was quite quiet/peaceful. There was a restaurant in the town that served all the main courses on toast, I like toast and something I usually miss while camping - but lamb chops on toast was new on me
