Thanks, no winter chill for me, high 20's every day, I'll be thinking of you all when the BBC news website shows the country grinding to a halt because of the snow.

Hi Trooper,

Where are you going ,to get 20 degrees every day in the winter?

Rainy season. means very large mossies.

now that nationwide no longer give commission free withdraws. I,m taking a look at a new Halifax credit card that seems to charge no comission on European transactions, but it needs investigating first.

The Nationwide credit card will still be fee free to use for € transactions same as the new Halifax Clarity credit card. Nationwide are starting next month to charge for using their debit card abroad. Halifax have always charged for using their debit cards abroad & even with the new charge Nationwide debit card will still be more favourable to use abroad than Halifax debit card.

You need to be a current a/c holders with these banks to have their debit cards of course.

When comparing fee free credit cards(ie no 2.75% foreign currency fee)its important to check the actual exchange rate they are giving you €/£. I have found Nationwide generally give best exchange rates.

Worth pointing out tho that Halifax Clarity credit card is fee free to use worldwide whereas Nationwide credit card is fee free for € transactions but 1% fee for all other foreign currency transactions.

I am waiting till after George Osbourne announces full details of the coalition's austerity measures on 20th October.

The international financial community should respond positively to our ¨putting our financial house in order¨ and the pound should improve against the euro - always providing that ¨other news¨ does not derail this.

NO guarantees here folks (you adopt whatever strategy you wish at your own risk). If my crystal ball was that accurate all the time I would be very wealthy, which (sadly) I am not.

Michael

€ about 86p yesterday, not as good as it was, we're on  Med cruise next week so will need some euros, have some from the summer.

Will use the PO credit card again! My bank does not charge for ATM use either.

The cruise ship uses $US for transactions, much better rate thank goodness!!
