Hi everyone

I am looking for suggestions of areas we can go next summer with our VW campervan, we haven't been brave enough to venture out of the UK in her yet, but like the idea of the Atlantic coast as we like bodyboarding and have exhausted Devon and Cornwall.

Any ideas very welcome. Thanks

We have a VW Trooper camper van and stayed very happily at La Cigale (reviewed here) .It's on the edge of the llittle town of Ares, which has a wonderful weekly market . There is a small pool ,bar and little shop. There are cycling paths to beaches. The Dune de Pyla isn't far and Arcachon is worth a visst. the beaches are great for surfing. It's not an all singing all dancing site but the owners are friendly and helpful.

If you want to venture to the south west.  We stayed at Camping Sylvamar at Labenne Ocean and loved it.  Beach is only 15 minute walk from campsite. We generally drove down with three kids and all that is needed at the beach it was easier as there was good parking there.  It is also not too far away from Hossegar where they host the surfing world championships.

Hi,

We stayed in Royan but ventured up to Ile de Oleron for the beach and body boarding.
Great beach, clear warm water and swell up to 15 ft high with great breaking waves.
Body boarding in bikinis it was so warm, no wetsuits insight here.

i would advise buying a storm rider guide from a surf shop .they list lots of surfing beaches along the coast of brittany and all around europe. i dont go travelling with out one. some of their maps are better than the maps you buy. you might never get out of brittany the surf is so good. i go on further as well do the top coast of spain ,galecia and the atlantic portugal coast. spent 5 mnths doing it last winter. never had a wet suit on once. i also do morocco in the winter if you want warm sea and sun in winter its the place. get the stormrider guide its all in there. have fun i do. cheers alan. its possibe to free camp all the way . loads of aires or free places .go on do it ,its great.
