Hi all. im looking at camping in france next year for 2 weeks. 1 week south brittany and second week north brittany. The problem I am having is when I go to book it all I seem to get is holiday homes or eurocamp tents etc, I want to take my own tent. Also can anyone recommend any good family campsites?

Looking for a site that has, Quiet at night, stuff to do for the kids 3 and 6 yrs old. Bar for Dad (essential) and warm weather near the beach. just looked at le letty campsite which looks very good. could even do 2 weeks at same campsite. I was just thinking second week north brittany would be easy access for the ferry.

There are lots of sites in France which will take tents - but if you just 'google' Camping France then you do tend to get websites dealing with mobile home 'tour operators'.

Have a look on the Camping France  website - where you can find details of all the sites in an area.  Look also at the campsite search at the top of these postings, and click on the map.  You can read reviews from the people who contribute to this forum, who have actually stayed on the sites, too - which always helps.

Camping Du Letty has some good reviews on this website, - check through the campsite search.  Friends of mine also liked Camping Port L'Epine  (no reviews on here though) and from the Brittany Tourist Information service  The site is on the coast - fantastic rock pools and a lovely beach, apparently but plenty going on for smaller children.   

 Du Letty looks lovely- not been but have stayed in the area. Benodet is a nice place, we love the whole area. Our favourite is a place called La Foret nearer to Concarneau. Du Letty will have a pool etc next year so should be even better than now and it already gets good reviews on here. Are you planning to get the ferry from Roscoff? Its about 90 mins from the Benodet area to Roscoff, we did the early morning ferry home one year from Quimper, it was a very early start though and we didnt have a tent to pack up as we in a site owned mobile.

Another lovely couple of sites are de la Plage and de la Baie at La Trinite sur Mer near Carnac, much smaller than Letty with the same direct beach access and perfect imo for kids of 6 and 3. There is a little tourist train that stops outside the site and takes you a tour of the area. Our kids loved that bit.

Brittany is a great place to holiday. Lovely beaches, places to visit and great food. Sorry can't help with a personal recommendation as the site we like doesn't have a bar.

One thing to bear in mind though is the weather. You are not guaranteed warm /sunny weather in Brittany by any means. We once spent a very wet ten days there which is why we now go further south. There is plenty to do even when it's wet and we had a great time but it was not the 'summer' holiday we wanted.
