We were thinking of going to Holland at Easter (turning right at Calais rather than left)...we have a 14 year old son so we need things to do on and around site, preferably near a beach.
Any thoughts?
thanks

As you are pointing South you will turn left to get to Holland.
Not used Beach sites in Holland but at that time of year headed for the bulb fields and Kerkenhof. That area is near to the beaches which would be a bit cool at that time of year.
we cheated and went to Duinrell in a thomson al fresco mobile this Easter. It worked out cheaper than the pitch fees! Fantastic swimming pools and slides, small theme pk, near Amsterdam for a day out and nearer Leiden which we thought was a really nice place. Everyone cycles everywhere with proper cycle tracks, we cycled to the beach on rented bikes only took about 20 mins or its only a 5 min drive. We had a good dry week and would definelty go back again. The only downside were the Belgian roads enroute, horrendous especially Antwerp on a Saturday.
Duinrell is a much bigger site than we would normally go to but it wasnt busy (plenty of people in statics) but the touring pitches were very quiet.

Springtime is bulb time in Holland, and the Keukenhof gardens are well worth a visit. See if you can time your trip to coincide with that, I think it lasts about 6 weeks.
If, in response to Savanne's suggestion, you want to cut down on Belgian road mileage, you could consider the Westerscheldetunnel, but check one or two of the half dozen or so videos on Google to see what you'd be letting yourself in for! It does tend to go on and on and on for 6.6km.

It is a nice tunnel but by the time you get to it you could have driven across Belgium, especially as the main roads have been improved a lot over the last year or so. Two things I would do is to avoid reaching the Belgium/Dutch border in the late afternoon or early evening and also to take the toll tunnel rather than the Kennedy tunnel, costs more but is a lot faster as all the trucks use the free Kennedy tunnel. To be fair to Belgium, the Dutch drive just as badly.
We did Duinrell Easter 2010 - beautiful bulb fields - campsite busy with bungalows booked etc, but the camping wasn't too bad. Book through the Caravan Club and get the bigger pitches. Site is 203 miles from Calais.

Woop Woop I won £50 of Halfords vouchers for one of my camp site reviews - make sure you do yours!
would also recommend Duinrell. Campsite with free decent sized funfair attached plus amazing water world. On site bar has ten pin bowling, there is a Go Ape style high rope activity course there and lots of other sports too. You can walk into town from the campsite and Amsterdam is a short drive away.
The site is well run and the shower blocks the best I have ever seen. Places to eat too with a take away. Though a lot there the site is still quite quiet.
Beach is a 10 min bike ride away though Easter there the weather is about the sae as here

Take a look at Sunparks, they have some good deals. At De haan for under 200€ a week for February half term. I bet Center Parcs are charging a lot more then.
