Just go from Dover, cheapest fare you can find, probably Norfolk line. If you want toll all the way take the autoroute, Reims, Dijon, Lyon or for less toll but doable in 2 stops. go via Rouen, Chartres, Orleans, Clermond-Ferrand. Or from Orleans go Limoges, Toulouse, Narbonne.

Not a great deal of difference in mileage on any of those routes. Overnight campsites wherever you want to stop.

glad to see you've reached a decision regarding the campsite!! I would go the same route as Tentz above or checkout the LD Lines prices from Portsmouth-Le Havre, a bit cheaper than BF. We did LD lines both ways this May and we went to Sommieres near Montpellier and Millau on the way back via Chartres, Orleans, Clermont Ferrand erc. We got from Millau to Le Havre with one overnight stop (in a motorhome so less set up time) as the Le Havre crossing leaves at about 5pm so plenty of travelling time that day.

LD Lines have an excellent fastcraft crossing (did this on the way home, overnight slow ferry on the way out) but they havent released the prices for the fastcraft yet. Theres an outbound fastcraft at 8am but again no prices yet.

If you are happy to do two overnight stops and have the time then Dover/Calais has to be your best bet financially. Are you taking your own tent or do I recall you are booked with Eurocamp?

We live in Frome and we always go to Folkstone for tunnel or Dover for ferry. Much prefer tunnel for timing & convenience. We go down via Tenz Reims Dijon Lyon route on autoroutes for convenience & speed. 730 french miles.

The Brittany ferries are expensive & slow in our opinion.

I would go Portsmouth-Caen/St Malo overnight and then only need 1 night en route each way and save myself a couple of hours each way. When I'm on hoilday, the time is more important than the money(within reason)

Dover is the nearest crossing to La Brisillia.  We normally stop in the Loire half way down on the way there.

We've been to Brasilia twice, both times we used the tunnel (I hate boats!) - the first year we went, we stayed over 2 night en route, the 2nd time we only stopped once.

I can't remember the exact route we took, but I know we went over the Milau Viaduct the 2nd time, it was awesome! I'll ask my husband when he gets in which way he'd go (he really wants to go back to Brasilia next year, but I think it will be 2012 if/when we go now)

2013
March - Pooley Bridge (Pod booked!)
May - Spiers House, Pickering
June - La Garangeoire, Vendee, France
Aug - The Cotswolds?

Warbis, according to the other post about Le Brasilia (Would you pay.......?) the site doesn't appear to have any free pitches from the middle of July until the middle of August.  Perhaps time for a rethink, unless you've booked the site already?
