Hi all, im trying to plan my 2011 camping trip to france. We are hoping to go camping in benodet Bittany but I cant decide which month will be hotter/Dryer. England the last few years has been very warm around May/June so Im thinking May 30th - June 13th. any advise would be very much apprciated. Is there a website that tells you 2010 tems

You can have a look here at historical records, going back for a long time - but you'll have to find a place in the list which is near Benodet.  You can check the months you're looking at over several years to get a better overall picture.

It's much better than relying on 'We were there in May and it rained for a fortnight' or 'We had two great weeks of hot sunshine'.

This is a no brainer - July and August are the hottest months, and the closer you get to the Bay of Biscay the better the weather generally gets. There are no guarantees for Brittany but its usually pretty good at that time of year. Southern Brittanys latitude is further south than Paris and benefits from the warm atlantique winds. Being a saddo ive spent ages looking at this stuff!

I wouldnt necessarily base your decision on 2010. Here are some links, the second has long term comparisons accross different cities (its taken from Meteo):

I think that if anyone knows the answer then they should buy a lottery ticket.

It's a guess what the weather will be like but I would have though that June/July would give you the best chance other.wise head further south and that would be even better

Mike

Ive got into this again!  Its interesting to note the difference between Nantes and Brest which have avge temp differences of around 4 degrees in July and Aug. Thats quite substantial and illustrates the differnces within the same region. The Nantes region also has considerably less rain than Brest in peak summer.

Weather Underground is a fantastic site for weather anoraks like me. Historical data worldwide.

Last time we went to Brittany it was mid June and it didn't get dark until very late - our son was two at the time and wouldn't go to sleep . Good if you like long summer evenings though.
