We have just returned from our Big R #2 trip. Six+ fantastic weeks through France, Spain and Portugal.
We used the great ACSI book as well as websites when WiFi was available BUT
we were aware that there were many other sites around not in the ACSI scheme.
Which comprehensive guides would you recommend for France, Spain and Portugal, and why?
(Prefer hard copy, as WiFi not always available and the DVDs available do NOT work on the Mac )

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
You could also have the ASCI DVD which has over 8000 sites on it compared to the 1900 or so which are in the book and which actually accept the card. Very good for route planning as well.
The Camping Cheque book would give you another 900 sites.
You could also download over 24000 sites onto your satnav from Archies camping.
We only use the ASCI DVD or Camping Cheque book as their is enough there to look at.
Have you looked at Vicarious Books website (one of the UK distributors of ACSI) - they list Le Guide Officiel Camping et Caravaning France, which I have seen recommended on this site, as well as the Spanish Guia Oficial de Campings.
Thanks
Yes, saw them when buying ACSI Guide. Looked very comprehensive, but wanted to see what others thought and if there were others recommended.
Unfortunately, Vicarious say the Spanish guide's DVD, like the ACSI DVD, does not work on the Mac

Yes, for France Le Guide Officiel ... is the book to take. Sorry, can't help with other countries.
Le Guide was literally worth it's weight in gold during my trip, I can only assume other countries have similar publications (do we? I don't know, probably not, & definitely not as good if we do).
Don't waste your time with the Alan Rogers books (sorry Alan) I found them only any good for the big, expensive, noisy family-type sites, & for some reason a very heavy book???
