Have you looked at the site reviews for Spain? You may find something which takes your fancy there. Otherwise, where do you think you will get to the first night after leaving Santander ? Try putting Santander and Barcelona into the ViaMichelin itinerary finder, and see where you could get to after a suitable driving time.

Depending how far you are travelling you could stop at either:

De Haro or  Camping Ciudad at Zaragoza

Hi there, have done bilbao to vila nova tugging a caravan and done it in the same day.  Equally, we came back from vilanova to santander and stayed at Haro. it's a nice site and a nice area to explore. As you're in a motorhome you may want to get further down towards barcelona, or, depending where you're heading to, straight there.

Thanks everyone ,just been looking at ViaMichelin itinerary finder,very useful,seems a stop at Zaragoza is a good move.i am ok driving for 3 hrs at a time,after that the old legs dont work,thanks again everone ,

as you know im new to these Forums and am amazed at the responce from you guys,

Let me ask another question to those who have traveled in spain,

Once i arrive in santander,should i turn go to the Barcelona! than travel down that coast

or go to Portugal and travel around there,,Which with your advice should i take.

i have been with my motorhome to spain in sept,well yes and no,i visited for 10days in early september last

and travel only to my site only 25miles from the port,it was my first trip abroad with the van,

and loved the site so much we never moved.

But this time i would like to see a little more,i started this thread with the intension of

traveling east ,but the more i read portugal seems more inviting to me,

The roads from santander to barcelona seemed very easy,( one direct route,(motorway )

which seemed the easy way out.

Please tell me if anyone know what are the roads from santander - portugal  are like,

whats the weather like in early June,recommended sites ect.

Hi Alan

It's just as easy to come out of Santander and head for Portugal.  If you're heading for the Algarve the route we have used more than once. If you want to stick to the Autopistas then Burgos-Madrid. Madrid-Seville. Seville straight to the portuguese border.  Also, agin from Santander head to Burgos- Salamanca-Caceres-Badajoz again over the border to Evora and again down to the Algarve.  See if you can get a copy of the Caravan Club Europe book, it will give you a host of sites to choose from.

We have stayed at Haro, a nice site and we will be there again January for a couple of days.  There are a couple just off the motorway at Burgos and there's a good o/nighter at Salamanca but I can't remember the name.  There's a good site at Caceres and another good one at Evora. From Evora, it's only about 3 hours to the coast.  One of the biggest sites is camping Albuferia and it's not that far from the town itself.  It's very nice area and being in the middle of the Algarve you can get to most of the place around the area.  We have caravanned in Portugal 6/7 times, the last time being earlier this year.  Going in June means the weather will be quite hot. I'd say around the mid 20's.  If you'd like any more info, just ask.
