Hi

We had 2 weeks in france this year, went to La Plage at Trinitie-sur-mer, lovely beachs, but that was about it, looking at going down a bit further around st nazaire/nantes, needs to be plenty to do, good eating out, decent hypermarkets, as around carnac was limited for all, close to the beach and good sailing water as taking the dart 18 as well,

Thanks for any info

Hi and welcome

If you cant find 'good eating' around Carnac/La Trinite youve got no chance around St Nazaire. Did you get along the main coastal stretch at La Trinite sur Mer? Loads of good restaurants. Or are you talking within walking distance of the site? It may be that youre after a more 'singing and dancing' site, in which case check out the reviews on here, theres loads for the area you are interested in. The Vendee coast a bit further south is more touristy, though probably less 'french' than Brittany (if you lnow what I mean!) and may have more going on for you.

Hi as you can see from user name we too have a Dart 18 which we regularly take to France. We go to a campsite called La Rive which is situated on a huge lake which is in Biscarosse we sail on the lake which is freshwater and warm! Although the campsite is not within walking distance of a town it has everything you need and the nearest supermarket is a 5min drive away. There are a couple of big lakes in that area and lots of campsites situated around them. The beach is about a 10-15 min drive away and great for surfing and bodyboarding. Campsite is big and busy we tend to go last 2 weeks in August so does quieten down a bit but there is entertainment every night but we have never foundit too intrusuve depends where your pitch is! we rent a mobile home direct from site and are normally situated towards the back of the campsite which tends to be less noisy. Hope this helps.

Hi

Carnac is one of the best places to stay in France, great beaches, good sightseeing, lovely resteraunts.

The vendee/st naxzaire is much less pretty, very flat and not much to do tourist wise. The beaches are nice but it tends to be much windier there. Perhaps you need to find a site that has more activities as places arent going to offer more than Carnac can.

What about the Loire or the dordogne?

          Hi,

Thanks for reply, we walked into trinitie-sur-mere, trouble is went with a fussy teenager, and o/h doesn't like fish, Sorry she likes fish and chips, she corrected me.just think we've got to find somewhere with more variety, so i'm thinking abit more touristy may be good, sent plenty of e-mails out for site brochures, will see what comes back.
