For years we drove off the boat and asked"left or right". We never planned ahead and ended up in all sorts of great places. However with advancing age and a larger caravan, we have settled on a parc ferme for the van near Uzes and return to the same site for several weeks of holidays and laze around and meet old friends. On the way back in2010 we stayed at a Motel near a TruckStop. Brilliant and would use truckstop again. However I have found POI for my Sat nav, but it only shows if you are near one. I can't find any way to actualy find them on a map and plan a run to stop overnight near one.
Would love a map like the F1 or other hotels use. Have chased round the internet for hours and can't find a map saying "there is one here".
Help
John

What do you mean by a 'truck stop?' It could be like the one off the A1 at Roye(used to be BP)which is nowt special or the equally uninspiring ones down the N10 sth of Poitiers. Or it could be a Routiers cafe along any N rd in France that has a large dusty truck park.

The idea that these sort of places serve better, cheaper food than elsewhere is a bit of a myth really. There are good & bad ones of course. Try asking on Trucknet

Hi, the place I have in mind was a great cafe/bar/restaurant at Macon North along with a collection of Motels. Super place to eat, very clean, good food, cheap beer and not at all intimidating, was full of drivers in their best t-shirts and no fuss. It really did make a welcome break on the way home.
Apparently it could be the name of a chain. I think the Company Logo could be a Blue capital letter M

Ah yes, the famous Macon Truckstop. BP last time I was there. I can't recall if I was ever intimidating but I did change me t-shirt about twice a week.

This website by French truckers my help you. Scroll down to the list of cafes & read the reviews. Click the union jack at top left to google translate to English.

Is this place a one off, or is it indeed part of a chain that has other just as good.?
Good talking to you.
As I said, used to tour a lot, Bright orange MGB roadster and Sprite Cadet.
Actually drove under the barrier at one site that had "closed" for the night.
Cheers
John

There was ideas yrs ago to set up US style truckstops in UK & Europe. BP opened quite a few & yrs ago they were ok but they didn't really make money, BP wanted to sell them & couldn't so they generally became run down dumps. Many have now changed hands but I can't recall any chain in France that specifically runs trucks stops as opposed to service aires.

The best French 'truckstop' type eating experience has always been in the 'Les Routiers' type cafes beside the old main 'N' rds but you need to know the good'uns because quailty does vary. I packed up continental truck driving about 12yrs ago so I have no up to date info.

Is it the espace d'activites de Macon Nord ? There's a couple of hotels and a Routiers I think.
