I always get a great response when I ask you guys so here is another question:
we are looking at Le Puits De L Auture in St Palais sur Mer. Have anyone ever stayed here? How big are the pitches? What is the pool like? Is there a playground for the kids? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Victoria

We are also looking at this campsite - or alternatively the Indigo Oleron (which unfortunately has no reviews on here).
Have made you made a decision yet?
Does anyone have any recommendations on sites and activities for this area - it is not one we have visited before. We are a couple no kids and are looking to spend a week in the area. I love to try new places but always agonise over campsite decisions!!
I couldn't find much information on this site so we've opted to go back to Logis du Breuil again this year. We are spending a week in the Dordogne and a week at Logis (St Augustin ser Mer). We were hoping to find a campsite within walking distance of a town but spent so long trying to find a site as good as Logis, we decided to go back there.
Logis du Breuil is a great campsite. Very open feel with a great atmosphere. There's not a lot within walking distance but its easy to park at the beach. Royan is lovely to visit and La Rochelle is within easy driving distance. We love this area and the best place to visit by far is the Zoo (La Palmyre), would really recommend that.
Hope that helps.

You could also visit. ROnce-les-Bains, Mornac, La Tremblade (Sat. market), Saintes - roman amphitheatre and other remains also a nice town, Cognac isn't far especially now the new road is virtually complete - so Martell, Hennessey to visit. You could do a different beach on each of 4 or 5 days.
Thanks for that - will have a look at Logis du Breuil!
My partner really liked the look of the pictures showing fishing off the rocks and beach at le Puits but I reckon there will be lots of places to do that - hopefully!
All the pictures of the area look fab!! I'm getting that summer feeling . .

I don't think you'd be disappointed with the area - we first went in 1982 and have been back every year since - we think it's the best seaside area in France.

Isn't that the site which was closed, but reopened last summer? Maybe that's why not many people reviewed it. We have stayed at Nauzun Plage, and hope to go there again. You can walk to the beach, less than 400 metres, so presumably can fish from the headlands there too, if that's your thing.

We had a look round Puits a few years ago - great position close to the coast but pitches were small. Back to Logis du Breuil for our fifth year running now instead!

Hi, we went past 'Puits'last year a couple of times and the bonus is, that's it's just across the road to the sea and beach. Minus point is that it is near a town (but with shops and places to eat close by) so pitches are small in comparison with more rural sites. I think it depends on what you want: if you're happy to drive go rural or if you prefer to leave the car at the site maybe Puits will suit. The area has masses of beaches - wild to the west and calm on the estuary with cycle tracks galore. We loved it and would definitely go again.
We stayed here 2 years ago and our pitch was huge, there is a swimming pool and a childrens pool too. The beach across from the site is full of fishermen which makes it unsuitable for kids swimming etc as too many lines and hooks, however the beach about 500 yds up the road is great.
the site has changed hands I think dobsonk, it was closed for a season and has reopened and their website clearly states in red at the bottom that there is no pool.

Stayed in this site 2 years ago. It was very good. Pools Ok, speedos only. The playground kept my children 7 and 5 quite busy. Its location is good. Once you come out of the site you can cycle along the front to the beach which is about 15 mins walk away. The beach is gorgeous, but very busy. Walking to the beach is the best option so pack lightly- consider ourself really lucky if you get a space.
Staff on site were excellent, we didn't have a euro power converter and they were happy to just let us borrow one. The toilets/ shower blocks were OK, quite old but the staff did their best to keep them clean. Small boulangeries within wlaking distance - as you'd expect. Supermarket about 10mins drive. Zoo 10mins drive.
If i was in this region again i'd use this site. Hope this helps.
Thanks for all that feedback - been away for the weekend so only just caught up with the messages. The area sounds just what we are looking for - I did want to be close to the beach as we are off to the Dordogne for the 'rural' bit of the holiday so was hoping to get away with the bikes for beach days leaving the car for days out.
Not bothered about whether or not there is a pool given the proximity of the sea but a little concerned that pitches might be small. We have a 5m Bell tent - do you think that could be a problem?
Thanks again for all the feedback it's very useful
