Have travelled in Europe before but this year we're taking a trailer. So far, seems only third party insurance for trailer. Any info on how to make sure we're properly covered if the trailer is damaged and we need to get it and it's contents home?
Thanks

Any of the European breakdown insurance should cover getting the trailer and car home. We use Europ assist through the C&CC. But never had the misfortune to 'test' it.

Car breakdown/recovery insurance generally(but not always with the cheapest cover)recovers car & any trailer or caravan, provided it is the car that is broken down or accident damaged. What most won't do is recover a trailer/caravan if car is ok & driveable. ie if trailer is(say)hit or has mechanical breakdown(wheelbearing perhaps)& car is unaffected, then no recovery.
For caravans, separate caravan insurance covers recovery of 'van only, so I guess you would need also to insure trailer separately.
Thanks all. It just seems to be so complicated - different insurance type for holiday, car, trailer and contents! Some company is missing a trick I think.
