This is part of the Landal group. Quite large site, but the bungalows are seperate from the tourers. Pitches and facilities are good standard. Plenty of amenities. The approach road from Saarburg is very steep, but if you have a good power ratio, it is no problem. Access to the town thereafter is by a cable car which is cheap and good fun. If you know Saarburg it is a lovely town , with the river coming down the hillside through the centre. Beautiful for evenings out for a meal by the river. There is also the big river Trier for fishing and boat trips. Great area all round, with plenty of sghtseeing. Easy access to Luxembourg or the Mosel.
Site is very popular, and would expect you will have to book for high season. We certainly found everything to be well organised, and the site restaurant is also well worth a visit. If you have hungry teenagers, they can try the schnitzel challenge.

We have also stayed at the site mentioned by FM and it is a site with good facilities. Not sure about fishing as its on a hill! Unless its changed they tend to allocate pitches. When we went we booked via the Caravan Club and I was not impressed with the pitch offered as it was right at the far endof the site away from all the facilities including toilet blocks, fortunately we were able to change.

Thanks Frogman. I have a large twin axle. Would that be a problem? My car is a Kia Sedona and would pull your house down so im not worried about power to weight.
No. The hill is steep, but as you say, if you have a good tug really there is nowhere out of bounds. I have a recollection that the Caravan Club say something about the approach. Basically it is steep with hairpins, but patience and bottom gear overcomes all.
Point is taken about what David says. I suppose you decide whether you book through the CC or direct, and what anyone calls "a long way". I found Landal to be very , i could even say too professional, but if you wanted somewhere special, I presume you could ask based on the site plan. generally we did n't feel remote.
Re fishing, I did say the river Trier, which is of course down in Saarburg, not"on site"

Yes fishing nearby is fine. Just had a look at the website and it seems i can only book 2 weeks max. But it will do for starters and I think i'll speak to the caravan club as the booking process on their own website looks complicated. Thanks for the help everyone.
Yup this is what I meant by "too professional". Landal seem to have a pretty wierd approach, but if you can get organised through the CC no worries, and like David says, once you get there, we found the guys on reception really good. Don't know if you speak German, but I wanted to practice my meagre talents, and they would always immediately revert to English as soon as I started to speak.

Is booking through the CC more expensive do you know? Do they want their slice too?
By no means, I have just done a booking through the CC and saved a bucket, but they seem to have a very wierd technique for discounts. can't fathom out how it works, but the nett result is that if you book a site and certain ferries, the total booking does n't add up the individual elements, ie there is some discount which comes in when you add the two together. Have n't been able to predict the system, but the fact is that if you play around with ferries and sites, and dates, you can turn up some very good results. Takes a bit of time, but can be very worthwhile. eg just made a booking for 19 days, but if I did 20 days, that added £200 to the bill. No matter how I permed the site nights or ferry dates, i could n't beat the system, so happy hunting.

Somebody posted info about a site in Prum but the message has been removed. Whoever it was, thankyou for that too as its another option. I have been to Prum before (it even had a Woolworths!).
I think this might be the site in question although its in Oberweiss not Prum, unless I have the wrong site. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=8163 Its not far from the Luxembourg border and the German town of Bitburg (famouse for its beer) Its got an excellent restaurant.

We stayed in the Landal Warsberg site in a static a few years ago. I loved the site and the area. It had a nice indoor pool, lovley restaurant and best childrens play area ever which the restaurant overlooks so you could just call the kids in when the food arrived. I loved the fact that we got a ski type lift down to the town. Saarburg is so pretty with shops, restaurants and surrounded by vineyards. We went on a walk right from the site thorugh the vineyards. The two downsides I remeber were wasps, loads of them - drove us mad as a reuslt the kids refused to eat outsidethe whole time we were there and also the very windy road. At that time we were not towing so did not really look at it from that perspective but it was very, very windy. Depends how confident you are don't think we would fancy towing up there.
Loads to see and do in the area we did the moselle wine route right up to Cochem, also visited nearby Trier. Lovley part of the world.
