I would say that it was important to have a letter from the parents saying that you can act on their behalf should she need medical attention, heaven forbid. Just as a safeguard to yourself I think it would be a good idea to have a letter explaning the arrangement.

Yes make sure you take written permission.We never did and were told off by a frightening looking woman at Calais who said we were lucky that we were allowed to get through passport control on our outward journey.My daughters friend was 13 at the time and was asked a few questions by the lady in question just to check that all was ok.

speak for yourself , 11-11, 30 pm is the norm for me and the wife and we are both in our 60s lol

yes you do need a letter giving permission to take them out of the country etc

we have got stopped / asked about my eldest son,as he has a difference surname to myself,hubby and youngest son

Mind you, when my daughter was about 4 or 5 (she was on both of our passports) but wanted her own so I made a pretend one with photo and front cover. It amazing what you can do with card and crayons .

We had a great time making this and she used to hand it in to passport control all over the place, they joined in the game with gusto. We still have it (kept safe) and it holds lovely memories. Looks like a real one just pailer in colour, but feels the same.

Perhaps I will be able to move into this line of business if the cuts get my job!
