Give us a few more clues, at the moment I am looking for links to coach trips to the Hook of Holland and Calais !

Seriously where do you want to go ? or what do you want to do? walking golf, visiting historic places.

Not much to have a go at in your initial post.

Regards

George

Dave

Holland is an excellent choice for the reasons you state. If you cross Dover - Calais most parts of Holland are within reach on your first day. Last year we went to Delft which is about 220 miles from Calais. Its a nice centralised position with excellent transprt links, particularly to Amsterdam.

Perhaps on the downside traffic densities are similar to the UK. A lot, not all, Dutch people speak excellent English which is a great help. E-mail me if you want more info.

thanks Dave and George sorry I did not give you a lot to go on george what we normally like to do on holiday is get out and view the area so the better the scenery etc also if it was holland hire a bike out and see the sights that way I like to have a beer or two in the evening so a venue that catered for this would be a plus the reason I don't want to drive to much in either country is because I have only 9 days and I would rather be on a site for the most part than on a road but we do tend to make the most of wherever we go so just a general recommendation of any good sites sorry I'm not more specific thanks dave446

  Hi

We have gone to Duinrell in Holland for the last 2 years , we stayed in a static but you can camp & having had a good nose round I reckon the facilities are some of the best i have seen. Its really easy to visit Amsterdam ,the Hague& Delft from here & the beach is 5 minutes away. There is a theme park on site & a fantastic swimming pool complex . If you sail from Harwich to The hook of Holland its only about 25 miles to the site.they have a website www.duinrell.nl available in English.   Next year we are going to France for a change hope its as good!!

       Louise

ps forgot to mention they hire out bikes ,gokarts & 3 wheel all terrain buggies too.

Would definitely agree with lou bee about Duinrell.  I have been there several times - in our own tent, with Euro sites and stayed in their chalets (duingalows) a couple of times.  If you have children, they will love it.  The swimming pool is fabulous for all ages and the site is really well kept.  We travelled Harwich to the Hook of Holland - a bit dearer than shorter crossings but a lot less driving.  Will definitely go back there.

hi funkyj, btw zeebrugge is in belgium. you don't say how you camp, tent / motorhome ?/

there are lots of great sites, and often you don't need to book - depends wen and where you go.  in the Netherlands Delft is nice and easy to get to, as is Alkmaar. in belgium try Blaarmeersen in Gent, Waux Hall in Mons.  in france - municipal sites are generally good value .. .. .. but it all depends on your direction of travel - where are you thinking of going.

We went to Camping de la Filature in France this summer and had a fab time.  It is near Vichy in the Auvergne and if you are looking for scenery this is a beautiful area.  It is like cheddar gorge but on a much larger scale with lots of gorges, rivers, quaint towns etc and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  We went canoeing down one of the gorges which was most enjoyable and only fell in once!

Vichy is beautiful, very pretty town with lots to see as you wander around and a huge park to sit and eat dinner in.

It is about 450 miles from Calais but closer if you sail from other ports.  We did it with an overnight stop each way, 2 coming back up but we wanted to meander rather than drive solidly.
