There are campsites in Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, both have access to mountain railways, they are both small towns. Can't think of the names at the moment, think the one in Lauterbrunnen is Jungfrau, but could be wrong.

Haven't stayed on either of them, but stayed at Lazy Rancho in Interlaken when we went and then got the bus/train. There is a search facility on this website, perhaps try that?

A few years ago we stayed at Camping Grassi in Frutigen. It's only a short walk into town and the station. The Kandersteg Tunnel is only a little further up the valley.

Camping Junfraublick at Interlaken. (not to be confused with Camping Junfrau at Lauterbrunnen)
Small site with pool. Ten minutes walk to Wilderswil station for Mountain Railways. Bus outside for Interlaken or 15 minutes walk.

Try Manor Farm just outiside Interlaken, they have pitches right on the lakeside and they give you a free bus pass to get into the town and rail stations or if you have bikes then its about a 15 min cycle easy flat roads. The Jungfrau railway is fantastic and you can buy a weeks pass that allows you  to use all the railways in the area as many times as you want.  Its about 100.00 but well worth it, however the bit of railway from Kleine  Shiedegger (spelt wrong)  up to the top of the Jungfrau where the ice palace is  costs about an extra 30.00 but its worth doing, just make sure you go on a clear day otherwise you will see nothing.  This pass also includes some of the cable cars too.

There is a site at lauterbrunnen which has excellent rail links  but not as much going on  ie.  restaurants bars etc.

Its a wonderful area and one we hope to visit again soon, I am sure you will have a wonderful time whichever site you choose.

Grindelwald is the place to aim for on a first visit to Switzerland- stunning views of the Eiger plus all the walks and mountain railways you could wish for. Two sites close to the village are Gletscherdorf and Eigernordwand. Both good and you are right in the heart of the mountains - Interlaken isn't  - it's down in the lower land by the lake.

The downside factors are that it's a steep old climb up the road from Interlaken to Grindelwald- you need a good power/weight ratio. And you need to pay for two vignettes to use Swiss highways with car and van unless you can work out a way of avoiding motorways. And everything in Switzerland is expensive - certainly the mountain railways. But if you can accept all those things then it's a wonderful place to go. If I were younger I'd certainly go back.

We went to a site a couple of years ago called camping Aaregg(i think thats how you spell it) within walking distance of a town called Brienz.this has to be the best ever site we have ever stayed .facilities are immaculate, right on a lake good swimming and boating and within walking distance to the town with a local railway and a mountain railway up the 'Rothorn'.you can easily get a train to Interlarken which takes you up the ' Jungfrau ' there is so much to do here without even having to use a car.look it up on google earth to see the location .If its the last piece of advice go there!
