hi, we use a paraffin heater, yes you heard correctly, a paraffin heater, paraffin is readily available at all supermarkets, its cheap and the heaters are brill, though you need an electricity supply
the only issue is that they are a lot bigger than a fan heater, but you can leave on all night on the thermostat setting, making sure it never drops below a certain temp or set to come on at a certain time in the day ! one such example is below, but they can be got cheaper in france! we have one for our static and it heats right throughout the van if we leave doors open and is surprisingly cheap to run.
