Can snyone please advise me if there is any suitable overnight parking at or near Bilbao port. We are hoping to get the ferry from Porstmouth which arrives at 1800, so may be looking to park up overnight and setting off the following morning.

Yes. Brittany Ferries are going to run from Portsmouth to Bilbao, starting in March, according to their web site. So I am hoping someone reading this will be able to advise me if we can park overnight at the port, (in our motorhome) or if there are any campsites near by, or if there are any safe areas to park up.
I have seen vans parked up at the port in Bilbao a few years ago. There is also some parking in front of the rowing club just before the port, which I think would be ok to use in the evening

We have travelled on the 'Pride of Bilbao' a number of times (whale watching was an experience) just for the short break - It was a shame to see it stop, I did wonder; has this had a knock on effect on crossing prices?

For what it's worth, when P&O were operating out of Bilbao it was 'normal'? to arrive at the Port and spend the night on the dock.
For those who have not used Bilbao, it is unlike most ports that us Brits are used to. It is a Port in the conventional sense, (think old footage of Liverpool, London Docks) in that there are warehouses and other large goods handling facilities within the port. You have to drive past them to get to the ferry terminal. Having said this, it's secure and easy to negotiate in when inside the Port area. One can leave your outfit amongst other like minded people and leave the port on foot to enjoy the amenities of the suburb outside the docks (Bars and shops)
Having said all that I dont know if the same is true now that Brittany has taken over as a ferry provider but as it is only a fration of the business of the port I shouldn't think anything has changed.

Hi to you all. Thanks for the information on Bilbao port. If we do go this way, it will be sometime in April/May. I will report my findings at a later date. Happy motorhoming to everyone.
HI .I'm new here and have just seen your post. I am crossing to Bilbao beginning of June, and hoping to stay the night at the port also. If you or anyone else has more info or feedback, glad to have it. Will you be back before I go?
Don't forget that the location of the the ferry port has changed, the car park did seem big enough but it might be best to ring Brittany Ferries and ask.
There is no problem staying at the new port that Brittany Ferries now use, we stayed there on the 26 December along with around 20 other caravans and motorhomes after docking at 6 pm.
If you look at the Bilbao port map on the Brittany Ferries website it is also mentioned there.
