There are road-signs specifically for bikes everywhere in Holland. All roads have cycle-paths at the side of them, apart from the minor roads, and the signs have towns with distances to the towns on them. They are mostly in red or green.
There is a network of what is called "Fietsknooppunten". They are a network of numbered junctions, so that you can make up your own route, there are maps for this and also on most junctions, there are maps displayed. You can then decide what route to take, by going from number to number, there is a website HERE, unfortunately it is only in Dutch, but that is the map for the province of Zuid-Holland, where Hoek van Holland is. The page shows a route of 62.3km starting in Hoek van Holland, on the left are the numbers to follow.
You can see the route in blue. It is very easy to make routes up using the numbers, and good fun!

Ina - the map is great. We are off to Wessenaar (Dunreill) in April and my husband is a keen cyclist. We also go out on the bikes as a family so the map is really useful. Last year we did one route from the campsite down to the beach and then turned right - but it is interesting to see that we can also turn left and do a completely different route - all off road too.
You're welcome, if you move the map it will go to Wassenaar, which I assume you have done. As you can see, it is possible to cycle wherever you want really. To Leiden for example, which is a lovely town, also to Katwijk, on the seaside, the possibilities are endless.
Further to the link given by shirl: that is a cycle map, but isn't the one with the junction numbers on it, nevertheless a good cycle map, depends if you want the one with junction numbers on it.
