Given the wealth of experience and info I've read on this site I'm hoping you can help me. We want to visit Sorrento as part of our 6 week Europe trip but are not keen to take the caravan, given the size of sites and the roads/traffic etc.We are thinking of leaving the caravan on a site in Rome (Camping Tiber being considered) and driving to Sorrento for a couple of nights , then returning to Rome. Has anyone done this and how safe for the caravan would it be? Any advice would be appreciated!

I think the first thing you would need to check is your caravan insurance to see if that was a possibility in the first place. I think Tim and Cary and I think a few other on here have been to Sorento with their caravan and I am sure they will be able to give advice on roads and campsites if you change your mind and take the van. We have been to Sorento (not in the van) which is very nice and a good point from which to visit Capri and of course Pompeii so it could be worth a detour witht he van!

Thanks. ust to clarify based on Valt's response we have a 7.5m single axel van so one of our concerns is entry onto site and pitch.
